Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) is a university student who writes a thesis on urban legends, and finds the eerie story of The Candyman - a vengeful spirit with a hook for a hand that can be summoned by saying its name five times in front of a mirror. Of course, Helen does not believe this, but the local residents of Chicago's housing projects are very superstitious, trying to warn Helen. She ignores their warnings and begins her investigation. A series of horrific murders begin to emerge. Could it be the legend of The Candyman is true?
