The Outpost is a 2020 American war film directed by Rod Lurie, based on the non-fiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor.

Based on the bestselling novel by CNN correspondent Jake Tapper. The true story of the Battle of Kamdesh, Afghanistan, in which 53 American soldiers were surrounded by 400 Taliban insurgents at the world's deadliest military outpost, Keaton.

The base was originally built to engage locals in community projects, but was located at the bottom of a steep valley and was constantly exposed to threats and attacks. When a decision was finally made to close down the base, the Taliban found out and attacked with full force.
